Summer slump

As it turns out, in June my blogging mojo went on it's own summer break and still hasn't returned. I'm well aware my blog posts are about as infrequent as they have ever been (if not more so!) in the last year and a bit and I'm really missing blogging and putting together posts however if there's one thing I've learnt it's that blogging when the passion and the ideas and inspiration aren't there just doesn't work.. I end up with rubbishy posts that I'm not pleased with and I post out of obligation rather than wanting to. So I'm trying not to stress about it, and I know that the blogging bug will bite me once more at some point. There will still be less-frequent posting when I'm feeling inspired I hope!

Until then though, it's likely to be quieter around here... Makes a change from me rambling on at least!

Weekend Update...

It's beautiful and sunny outside today, and I'm really looking forward to warmer weather, the winter seems to have gone on for ever this/last year! Pretty dresses and skirts, summer-y make-up, sitting outside blogging and editing pictures- a job that goes so much faster when you're sitting in warm sunshine!- eating ice lollies and going to the beach. 

I'm hoping to have a giveaway up in the next few weeks, I might save it until my first blog birthday next month. I've already started getting bits and bobs together and I hope you'll like them as much as I do :)

Since I've been on the Facebook scene for handmade things I've seen so many gorgeous pieces, I'll have to show you a selection in another post, the talent is amazing, I could buy so much!

Today I'm looking forward to taking some pictures for new blog posts, making some jewellery bits and getting things tidied (I love tidy!).

A new lease of life for baked eyeshadows..

After reading Fee's post on scraping the top layer off baked products to leave them more pigmented I decided to have a go myself with Accessorize's baked duo in Rendezvous as after originally being impressed with it I then became less and less so as I used it a few more times. I tend to use this foiled, so with a wet brush, which seems to cause this problem of a frosty top-layer much faster than with a dry brush.


Here's the obligatory before shot:

Pale, washed out colour. This is relatively heavily swatched. 

Pretty shimmery colours in peachy and pale pink colours.. but with a frosty sheen

Time to score the surface of your baked shadow (or other baked product) to reveal fresh new surface!

Top to bottom: before & after. Both swatched over ELF's eyeshadow primer. There's a huge difference in pigmentation and the bottom swatches took a whole lot less loading onto the brush too! 

I look forward to being able to use this duo properly once again.

Star blogs!

I thought I'd do a quick post on some of my favourite blogs.. I follow a lot of them so not all my favourites are going to get in here but here's a few...

Do Not Refreeze Leanne's nail art is amazing and I always look forward to a FOTD from her!

Lipglossiping was the first beauty blog I ever read, Charlotte's writing style is unique, I'll read posts about products I have no interest in and enjoy them!

Dottie K was another of the first blogs I read. Kim's reviewing style is fab, always very clear and again, another great one for nail art! 

Makeup Savvy, I only came across Fee's blog relatively recently but already it's one of my favourites, I LOVE a bargain and she really is the queen of them! 

Magic's in the Makeup is great for all things beauty, particularly skincare and lipsticks/foundations/blushers. A very cute blog!

Sailboat is a beautiful blog. I love Jennie's photographs and her favourites posts are amazing!

May Loves Makeup May's blog is a haven for all things pink and girlie! (It actually reminds me of that shop, Girl Heaven.. I don't know if it's still around any more, but it was just make up, glitter and pink things!) She has some fab giveaways too!

Vivianna's blog is full of lipstick! She does some great favourites videos too and I always enjoy watching them. 

Phew! I might make this a more regular thing of just a few blogs at a time, it might make it a little easier to read as well as saving everyone from link-death too!

Weekend update!

Wow! I was shocked to discover my reader numbers skyrocket yesterday and again today (thank you link love...!) and I'm stupidly feeling a bit shy about writing this ;)

Anyway, hellooo to all my lovely new followers and readers, always wonderful to have more of you!

I've been busy busy this past week, and I've started making handbag charms and earrings which I'm loving. I hope to get making some more this week and then possibly pop some up on the blog for sale if they're something anyone would be interested in buying for little pressies or similar for Christmas, let me know, and if you wanted custom colours or similar then drop me an email and I'll see what I can do for you :)

Please excuse rubbish-y photos, it's dark outside so it's difficult!

I've also been organising a series of Christmas giveaways for you all! At the moment I have 7 prizes which I'm planning to give away over 14 days from the 12th to the 24th of December... So keep watching for that! They're mainly little bits but I've had some gorgeous donations from very generous Etsy-ers (what else can I call them?!) and I'm very excited about it!

I also still owe you a blog on an Accessorize Eyeshadow duo, plus new ELF bits, a couple of OOTD's and some other posts.... I'm way behind!

I am...

A while ago now I had a poll up on my blog about what you'd like to see more of, surprisingly "life" posts came top, I do very few of these as to be honest, I really don't think my life is exciting enough to share with you, but your wish is my command, if you like it, leave a comment, and I'll see if I can magic up some more exciting things to share with you!

... (still!) learning to drive, I originally started almost 2 years ago now and learnt in a manual for a few months before it got too much for me and my silly legs. It was almost a year until I started again, and now I've been learning since May, with a couple of few-week-breaks where life has got in the way and I've not been able to have lessons.

At the moment, because of where I live and my inability to use buses even if there were any... I'm reliant on the parents to get me OUT and my beauty perusing is limited. I am very much looking forward to being free to spend as long as I want in Boots although I very much doubt my bank account will thank me for it! I'm also looking forward to being able to start in some kind of volunteer role in the big wide world, as I've been out of it for some time now, all kinds of normality is welcome here!

... Eating Milkybar buttons (I'm only allowed white chocolate due to being caffeine-free right now on doctors orders!) which I'm loving, with Cadbury white chocolate buttons as a treat- they're far more calorific but creamier! 

... Making flapjack with too much Golden syrup.. Eek! I've discovered that the cold corner cupboard is the perfect place for it to live, it's made the flapjack squares more solid, which can only be a good thing, they were falling apart everywhere before!

... Hoping that my goodies from CSN stores arrive today, I've got some pretty cool things to come, and I'm looking forward to using those and showing you the results!

... Enjoying the colder weather, I have gorgeous Sugar boots that I bought last year and they're just perfect, so much more elegant Uggs! (though probably not as warm.. I'm on a as-warm-as-my-slippers hunt at the moment!) people actually come up to compliment me on them! Snuggly scarves- though not loving the little fibres they leave all over me!

... Looking for a liquid foundation, I'm going to try out Dream Satin Liquid for colour when I next go to Boots, see if that's any good for uber pale me.

... Desperately in need of a hair cut. Which requires a hair dresser... Mine moved away (she was on the verge of being dropped by me anyway) and I now have to find a new one, such a scary task!

A quick update!

So my phone has fallen out with my laptop at the moment and so bluetoothing (ha, that sounds like a species of shark or something...!) is nigh on impossible... Which makes blogging somewhat difficult ;) I've been lacking the patience to fix it up until now but I will try and magic it, or .. use the data cable or something like that.

Cupcakes...

I made these a couple of weeks ago  ages ago now, and didn't get round to posting them... They're neither overly exciting nor very professional looking but they kept me occupied for a while ;)

Tweezer disaster?!

So this morning I was contemplating the state of my eyebrows and wondering why I'd let them get to the state that they are currently in.. (it's not good!). It was only when I picked up my tweezers and tried to start plucking that I realised.. MY TWEEZERS ARE BROKEN!

How do tweezers break I hear you ask! I have absolutely no idea. (unless trying to pull glue dots off with them was a bad idea.. It could well have had something to do with it!) They just don't pull eyebrow hairs out! 

So now I'm in the position of desperately needing new tweezers and I think they should be pretty... I can't believe how many different sizes/styles and colours of tweezers there are! 

Oh the decisions..!

1. What magazines do you read?

Anything that I like the look of on the front! Katie Price is someone who will forever fascinate me, regardless of how I feel about her, it's some strange power she holds over me...

I also have a subscription to Marie Claire magazine.. I love it as it has some really interesting, well written articles that focus in on different stories that leave you intrigued as well as having the fashion side to it too, it's very different from a lot of the other magazines out there. 

2. Do you have any pets?

I do, as a family we have 2 chickens, a horse, 2 cats and 2 dogs!

3. What is your biggest achievement?

Ooh, that's difficult! I have to say that I'm really proud of managing a year of college whilst being really too ill to be there, it took a lot of sacrifices and I don't think I regret doing it.. 

4. If you could only wear one nail polish colour for the rest of your life what would it be?

Rimmel's Rose Libertine. I love it!

5. What are your ambitions for the future?

To be honest I want an amazing man for a husband and babies! ;) I'd love to be able to find a job that suits me perfectly too...

6. What is your favourite food?

I think that's a tie between chinese (sweet and sour and chicken chow mein in particular!) and macaroni cheese, but made with bigger pasta, like penne, which is in the picture! Both of these foods are just wonderful!

I don't think I could choose a favourite, that changes all the time! One that really caught my eye on Wehearit was this one..
