Bye Bye lovely nails...

...Hello stubby little nails... (A story!)

On the 5th day of fake nail-dom the chipping of the white tips and the tip wear was just too much. I decided I'd paint them, only to discover that what remained of the white tips bubbled and wrinkled horribly underneath the polish.

Fair enough I thought, and went at my plastic nails with a metal nail file until the whole nail was clear. Aha! Now I will have perfectly polished fingernails of an even length !.... But no. The nails continued to conspire against me; having got rid of the bubbly wrinkly white tips the rest of the nail decided to have a go.. I painted a perfect layer of Ribena coloured goodness (a MUA shade, coming soon in a NOTD on my real nails!) on them only to find.... Bubble bubble, wrinkle wrinkle.... ARRRGGGHHHH!

Dying from the excessive fumes from polish and remover I did something every fake nail box advises against.. I pulled them off...

Defying all the odds my fingers survived, but some tough plastic nails remained...

Determined to once again have beautifully coloured nails I continued in my quest, searching high and low (ok, just in one cupboard, but ssshhhh!) for non acetone free polish remover and having found it I soaked my nails and waited.. And waited... And waited... (Seriously, soaking them until they dissolve has got to be some kind of a joke!) and then, once again breaking all the rules, I pulled them off.

And then spent forever picking bits of glue off my nails. Aww, I have actually missed them, as sad as that sounds! I like to know that they're my own lovely(?!) nails and that I can paint them till my hearts content.

NOTD- second Konad :)

Very basic as I'm rather in love with my beautiful white tips on my wonderfully fake nails :)
I used MUA polish in shade 15 as when I'd chosen it as a nail colour I'd found it surprisingly thick, and it worked pretty well for Konad-ing..! Only slight problem was that as it's not as thick as Konad special polishes it did dry faster so getting placement right before it dried was tricky!

Update on the nails.. One fell off last night, but in all fairness I did hit it on the door- hard!- and they survived me using my chair, which I didn't expect! I was able to stick the same one back on, so they're doing really well as far as I'm concerned!

Nailene So Real Light-As-Air false nails

I first read about these on Jo's blog Beautylicious Love after she got sent a few different sets of nails from Nailene. I've never had much success with false nails, my hands are small (and I mean really small, I can wear children's gloves!) and therefore my nails are pretty tiny too, so finding false nails that look reasonably natural and fit comfortably is no easy task!

Nailene say:

" Light as air nails are the most natural looking perfect fitting nails. Contours to your own nail bed so it doesn't even feel like you're wearing nails. With an acrylic strong tip!"

These are just perfect! My own nails had been a lovely length that I was happy with up until a few days when they all decided to break! They're not particularly strong and they don't get to a decent length that often before breaking off.

I took some before pictures for you...

See the split? On the thumbnail? The lowest split I've ever had, and I was not willing to let it come off at that length, ow! I'm hoping the false nails will mean it stays put at least for a while.

And after sticking my fingers together... Twice! (I feel that they look a little more natural in real life than in this picture, but it gives you an idea!)

Totally worth the pain of ripping my skin apart!

After having them on for about half an hour or so I stopped noticing them as much (I got changed just after I'd done them, trying not to ping any of them off!) and they don't feel like they're going to come off very easily which is great, typing with them is really easy and they just feel nice and solid and totally comfortable on my nails, unlike others I've tried which almost feel like they're pulling your nails from your nail bed...!

I got these on ebay for just under £3.99 plus 99p postage from The Little Gift Company and I'm hoping I'll get another set out of the 24 in the pack if I'm lucky!

Great value for really fab nails!
