Accessorize NOTD!

I thought I'd cleverly disguise my new year's post.... So first of all, Happy New Year!

And then onto the NOTD ;) this was what I wore for Christmas day this year...

Accessorize Pink Spice. A beautiful mix of pink and orangey-yellows. Love it!

Then I added a coat of ELF's "Twinkle" to it (which is a matte finish) and added a coat of INM's Out the Door to make it shiny again!

Hope you've all had a very happy Christmas period!

Frost Fair nails!

Last Friday I toddled off to one of our local National Trust properties to spend the afternoon at the Frost Fair there, a veritable feast of Christmassy crafty-ness, with perfect crisp white snow and the smell of mulled wine to get you in that festive mood!

It was full of some beautiful things, jewellery, handmade cosmetics, cards, chocolates and fairies! I don't know if it's something that's exclusive to Attingham Park or f it goes on at lots of different venues, but if you get a chance to go then I'd really recommend it, I managed to pick up a few little pressies and it made a great afternoon out even if it took me the rest of the day to get the feeling back in my legs!

Anyway, the day before inspired by the snow and helped along by Leanne's tutorial (she puts me to SHAME!) I created these:

I used ELF's white as a base, with their Golden Goddess next (LOVE this!) and Collection 2000's Button Moon for the snowflakes.

Are you feeling festive yet?

NOTD - a repeat with a twist

Please excuse the dry cuticles... And hands...

This is Asda's Twister which is a matte finish, but after my last chipping disaster I used just a normal top coat with it. I used Accessorize's Ruby Sparkle all over on my thumb and ring finger and then on my nail tips too.

I'm really pleased with this actually, pretty pretty :)

Are you jumping on the glitter bandwagon this winter?

NOTD: girlie style!

Looking a bit like a small child's got their hands on my nails in the picture, however (I think!) they look better in real life. I share these things with you whatever though you see, disasters and all ;)

Also pretty hard to photograh in decent colour..!

Base- Rose Libertine
Dots- ELF white
Hearts- Rimmel's Lasting Finish Double Decker Red!

Got any tips for drawing freehand on nails? Let me know!

Accessorize NOTD

I had a right hassle trying to get hold of one of the Illusion polishes from Accessorize's new make up range.

I originally ordered Pink Spice online alongside a baked eyeshadow duo but it was cancelled (so I paid £2.95 postage for just the one item, I hate it when companies do that!) and eventually I got hold of Aztec after I popped into one of my local Accessorize branches in Shrewsbury where the lovely Yvonne helped me get hold of one by phoning another store and having them post it to me!

I've not been disappointed though, it's a really amazing colour with decent wear and a lovely formula. All for £4!

The base to it is almost a sheer bottle green colour with pink and yellow duochrome flashes when it hits the light. I ended up applying 3 coats as with 2 the tips of my nails were lighter than the rest of my nail due to the distribution of the glitter-y stuff inside the base. 3 coats makes it quite a bit darker than 2 and it almost looks like a purple-y/black base rather than the green, which I like. It lasted 3-4 days with a top coat before chipping occured and tip wear was impressive considering the amount of typing I do!

Have you tried out the new Accessorize polishes?

NOTD... guess what?! Dots.

Yes, I'm stuck in a nail dotting rut. I like it, they make me smile and they're easy ;)

ELF's white, Barry M's pure turquoise and Rimmel's (lasting finish I think!) black cherries.

Had a bit of a smudging issue with top coat.. Oops!

I finally got hold of my Accessorize nail polish (it's been a right hassle!) so that should be up soooon!

NOTD and Oh dear George!

I was very VERY excited to find an Asda living store with their cosmetics in the other day, mainly their polishes which were all £1. Unfortunately everyone else had clearly been just as excited as what was left was a very small range indeed, the teeny little turn around.. shelf thingy... was almost empty.

A few colours remained, one of which was Twister, a gorgeous metallic looking purple in the bottle... Although it wasn't until I was applying it and it was drying matte that I located the "Matte Finish" sticker on the top... Oops!

Ooh, look how pretty! Unfortunately these pictures were taken in the evening with flash, I would have taken new ones the next day had I not been greeted with chips... Which now, less than 48 hours after painting nails have become this..

Admittedly, this is my right hand, and the above is my left, but that doesn't really matter ;)

I'll update this post if I have any better experiences with this in the future, but for now..

Asda, you disappoint me!

Have you had any experiences with asda polish?

NOTD- Barry M!

This is Barry M's Pure Turquoise.  It reminds me of blue smarties, but that's probably more the vibrancy of the colour as this is lighter and well... more turquoise! ;)

This is 2 coats, wearing very well with a top coat, I chip polish like you wouldn't believe and this is it's second full day now and no sign of tip wear (I type a lot!) or chips. Looked really glossy without a top coat, I'm just very impatient and dent my newly painted nails without a quick dry top coat.

This was an Asos buy in the sale for £1.75 (where they have Dusky Mauve in stock for £3 and free delivery!) which presumably means it was an end of line as it's quite a summery colour. I can only find a turquoise on the Barry M site, it has the same number but looks different to me... Confusion!

Zingy NOTD

This was a quick NOTD that I did a couple of nights ago, unfortunately a few line wobbles but I'll get there eventually ;)

I used ELF's white, Rimmel's I love lasting finish in Grass Green and Sunshine and INM out the door top coat.

NOTD

I'm a multicoloured girlie, I love colour and these nails have meant many happy moments as I catch sight of them through the day!

I used ELF's white as a base and then the dots include: Diamond Cosmetics Oh Tiff, 17's Sherbet Lemon, Rimmel's Rose Libertine, Barry M's Berry Ice cream, Collection 2000's Hula, and 17's Caribbean Coral.

Please excuse any smudges, my Sally Hansen quick dry top coat has turned all gloopy and cloudy! (New, different one in the post!)

NOTD

Diamond Cosmetic's OH, Tiff! with 17's Peacock used for the dots.. I'm surprised at the difference in look between a lighter shade for dots and a darker shade, makes a nice change!

NOTD

Barry M's Berry Ice Cream.. I know this was everywhere earlier in the spring but I missed it ;) it was only when I saw it on asos for £1.75 the other day (disguised as "pale lilac") that I went for it. Application's a little difficult but that's only down to the fact that getting the right amount on the brush is tricky, and if you apply too thickly then it doesn't level itself out.

Otherwise it's a gorgeous colour, and for £3 a bottle it's very well priced!

Hoping to do something a little more exciting with it over the next few days (if Konad counts as exciting.. ha!)

What's your favourite Barry M colour?

Weather nails!

Another amateurish attempt at nail art, but I'll get there!

Slightly worrying that my mum couldn't tell what they were, so I'm looking for your reassurance ;)

The base colour is MUA's shade 9, it's a little thick but it goes on nicely!

NOTD!

This is Rimmel's Funtime Fuschia, with No.17's sherbet Lemon, MUA shade.. 12? and Collection 2000's Button Moon!

Done with the smallest of my nail art brushes, I'm quite happy with this for a first attempt!
Enjoy the lovely weather today :)

NOTD!

Yet another dotty nail design... I got some nail art brushes in the post today so I'm looking forward to trying those out!

Please excuse my messy cuticles and skin... For some reason my hands have decided to rebel despite copious amounts of moisturiser...

This is Diamond cosmetic's Oh Tiff! with No.17's Caribbean Coral, Rimmel's Rose Libertine, No.17's Sherbet Lemon , and ELF's white!

NOTD

This is Rimmel's 60 second Sunrise. It's a beautiful cool toned orange with a hint of coral and shimmer.

Formula was good although as I've found with others in the 60 second range they don't dry in 60 seconds, not even touch dry as they're quite thick. However they're priced well and the colours and brush are gorgeous!

I decided it was time for a bit of dotting again, so I used ELF's white and the finished look reminds me somehow of a summer picnic tablecloth... In a good way!

What are your summery favourites in nail polish?

NOTD- it's here!

I really want to call this Battenburg nails (for anyone who doesn't know what that is... Shame on you! Square cake, kind of separated into 4 quarters colourwise, with light pink and yellow at diagonal corners, and then marzipan wrapped around the outside.. yum!) But it's not, cos they're the wrong shades of colour, but that's what it reminds me of!

Anyway, Simple NOTD... The pink is actually the only non pastel colour out of the Primark polishes that I picked up a while ago, and the one that applies best out of all of them. The yellow dots are No 17's Sherbet Lemon! :)

Non- existent NOTD....

You know those days where you just can't find a polish that you like once it's on, or can't decide on what to do on top of it, or just generally a BLAH nail day? I'm having one of those ;)

I must've gone through at least 4 different colours this afternoon and none of them look right today. Hopefully I'll have a NOTD up for you tomorrow, if I can stop being so indecisive and if my polishes start looking right on my nails!

NOTD- Rose Libertine and Konad!

I went into Boots yesterday and took advantage of their 3 for 2 offer. I took a risk and picked up a Rimmel 60 seconds polish (after my last one that took half the day to dry!) in Rose Libertine, which I really love, it's a gorgeous colour and it's perfect for summer.

The Xpress brush makes it really easy to apply and the formula was much better than my last Rimmel polish which was wayyy too thick and gloopy!

I decided to do some Konad..ing? with plate M38 and a design I've not used before. I wasn't really in the mood to spend ages getting it perfect and I'm quite happy with the vaguely abstract result that this has produced! I personally think it adds a little character to my nails if they're not all uniform and perfect! However, even with that attitude my little finger nail is awful, please ignore it's existence ;)

Anyone else been buying up all Boots' nail polish while they have 3 for 2 on so many make up items?

NOTD!

This is No7's Stay Perfect Frosted Pink- 1 coat, with 1 coat of Rimmel's lasting finish Opal on top (which lightens and... pinkens?! the colour of the No7 which is a little more peachy than pink, and gives it a pearlescent finish). Then dots (dotting tool overuse recently?!) in ELF's white and Rimmels' funtime fuschia with Beauty UK holographic glitter on top! I think the glitter looks less scary and OTT in real life ;)
Are you a glitter nail polish girl? Or do you avoid it at all costs?!
